UNIVERSITAS SYIAH KUALA STUDENTS COMPETE AT ALSA INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2024 IN SRI LANKA
Banda Aceh, August 15, 2024 – The ALSA International Moot Court Competition (AIMCC), one of the most prestigious events organized by the Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA), was held in Sri Lanka from August 8th to 11th, 2024. This year’s competition centered on the theme “Equality in Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Investor-State Dispute Resolution,” simulating an arbitration hearing within the framework of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS).
Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) was proudly represented by four dedicated delegates from ALSA LC USK: Teuku Muhammad Rizq Ramadhansyah, Fatin Humayra Zulfa Ishadamy, Cut Damara Azalia, and Sindy Alifa Saputri from the Faculty of Law-International Class Program. Competing against teams from around the world, the USK team demonstrated exceptional legal expertise and advocacy skills in this highly competitive arena.
The AIMCC consists of two rigorous phases: the memorial rounds and the oral rounds. In the memorial rounds, teams submitted written memorials for both the Claimant and Respondent positions, addressing a hypothetical legal dispute created by each team. During the oral rounds, teams presented their arguments before Panels of Arbitrators, articulating their cases from both sides of the dispute.
The USK team’s participation in this prestigious event underscores the university’s commitment to excellence in legal education and its dedication to offering students opportunities to tackle global legal challenges. Their experience in Sri Lanka has deepened their understanding of international legal practices and strengthened USK’s presence in the global academic arena.
